Creativity & Aesthetic experience
Creativity has the potential to enrich the lives of individuals and communities and fuel the evolution of culture. The QLRC has a longstanding interest in creativity and aesthetic experience. In addition to research on the lives and characteristics of creative individuals and the nature of aesthetic experience, the Center has employed the systems model of creativity and has extended the perspective by applying it to good work in the sciences and other professions. The systems model views “Big C” creativity as the result of interactions among a cultural domain (say, biology), the associated social field, and an individual seeking to contribute to the domain.
