Founded in 1999 by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Jeanne Nakamura as one of positive psychology’s original research sites, the Quality of Life Research Center (QLRC) studies positive functioning in context – including such human strengths as engagement, creativity, intrinsic motivation, and responsibility – to understand those aspects of human experience that make life worth living.

The Center conducts research and supports investigation and cultivation of the quality of life by providing a center for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars to meet and work and by sponsoring lectures, convenings, and publications for the wider community.
